A San Fernando Valley Doctor was arrested yesterday for allegedly sexually battering a patient he treated in 2007. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed two criminal charges against Dr. Pez Abrahams regarding the 6 year old incident. At the time of the incident Dr. Abrahams was performing work for the federal immigration authorities.
Some time after the incident the California Medical Board investigated Dr. Abrahams and ultimately revoked his license to practice in 2011, about 5 years after the incident. Dr. Abrahams was placed on probation and continued to practice medicine from his office in Winnetka, California until yesterday when he was arrested.
The Doctor was booked at men’s central jail in downtown Los Angeles and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. He is scheduled to go to court in Van Nuys this week. Based upon the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s website, the case has already been filed by prosecutors and the doctor is facing felony charges.
Information about the case is limited but according to local news reports the victim was said to have been an immigrant seeking naturalization as a United States citizen and the exam was a routine examination conducted during this process.
Conviction for sexual battery requires a lifetime registration as a sex offender.
