Camarillo Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man who allegedly poured lighter fluid on his dog and set it on fire. The dog was a 3 year old basset hound named Buddy who certainly didn’t deserve the treatment his owner Andrew Delgado gave him on October 27, 2012.
Police arrested Delgado for arson and animal cruelty. He faces up to 3 years in prison and registration as an arson offender.
Delgado is due in court on November 13 of this year. His criminal history is unknown but as a young man of only 18 years, I would guess it is non=existent or at least not extensive.
Sources indicate that Delgado was under the influence of narcotics at the time of setting the dog on fire. This is not a defense to the charges but may help to explain to some people why any person would do such a thing.
