Another “Bling Ring” defendant plead no contest to the residential burglary of actor Orlando Bloom’s home. Alexis Neiers, who the media describe as a reality star, had previously denied knowledge of the burglary indicating she was present but too intoxicated to know what was going on. I’m glad her defense attorney didn’t try to sell that to a jury.
She appears to have pled no contest to residential burglary, which is a strike under California’s Three Strikes Law. Her sentence appears to be as follows: Two years state prison, imposed and suspended, three years of formal probation, 180 days in county jail, and of course, she is ordered to stay away from the victim’s home. She is likely also ordered to pay restitution to the victim in all cases as would be typical in a case of this nature.
As for the settlement, it seems fair to me assuming Ms. Neiers has no previous record. Hopefully this conviction will not effect her “career” as a reality star. In fact, it seems as though the incident has only enhanced her new found career. Good for you Ms. Neiers, however, even the few days you will likely spend in county jail should be sufficient to keep you out of the justice system in the future.
